NORTHWOOD COMPLETES COMPETITION SEASON AT NORTH DAVIDSON

Saturday was a beautiful Fall day for the Marching Chargers. The Chargers began the day with a cool morning practice. After practice, the Marching Charger students and families were treated to a "sit down" meal prepared by Mrs. Williams, one of our wonderful band moms. The fact is that she currently does not have a student in the band, but as with most of our band families, "Once a Marching Charger, always a Marching Charger" THANK YOU TO MRS. WILLIAMS FOR THE GREAT MEAL!!

The Northwood High School Marching Chargers completed their band competition season Saturday in front of a huge crowd at North Davidson High School.

Although the Chargers didn't carry home the 1st place trophy, they are still # 1 in our hearts and minds. The Marching Chargers have had a wonderful successful marching season. We couldn't be any more proud of these young adults than what we are!! Go Chargers!

Once again, Cottrell took top honors (3 rd WEEK IN A ROW!) in the director competition. Cottrell was named "Favorite Band Director" at North Davidson. It was no secret that we all knew that before Saturday's event was ever played out. Thanks Cottrell for a GREAT marching band season.

I have to give a special "Thank You" to Chris Hooft and Dickie Lassiter for taking care of the UNC Concessions Saturday. This allowed me to continue my streak of taking photos at every competition that the Marching Chargers have competed in since 2001. (see 2001 photo at top of blog) I am the one who has been blessed to get to know so many wonderful families over the years through the work of Mr. Cottrell and all the families of the Marching Chargers! THANK YOU AGAIN CHRIS AND DICKIE!

Congratulations to our Seniors for the hard work and dedication they have displayed this year. You have been superior leaders to all of the other Band members. It is amazing to thumb back through the photos from 2004 through 2007 and see how these students entered Northwood with the curious freshman look and have become confident young adult leaders. We love you and will miss you next season. You guys will always be special in the Marching Charger family.

Enough said for today. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT MARCHING BAND SEASON. THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED THAT HELPS TO PUT THE SHOW ON THE ROAD. EVERYONE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB!!!

Enjoy the photos.

NOTE- I have to mention the NC State Band! They were marvelous!

NORTHWOOD MARCHING CHARGERS CAPTURES TOP SPOT 2ND WEEK IN A ROW

1st things 1st. Best wishes to Sabrina, Kalaindie & Lauren. For those of you not at the Sanford competition yesterday, these 3 young ladies injured their ankles. I hope they all recover quickly and are able to participate in next weeks competition at North Davidson. Good luck girls!!

CONGRATULATIONS to our Marching Charger Band for taking 1st place in Division AA yesterday in Sanford. It was a great performance on a very "messy" field. Mud was the standard. We all felt so sorry for every band due to the conditions they had to perform in. They did extremely well in adverse conditions. We are proud of the students and the show they put on.

The Marching Chargers took 1st place in most of the captions and scored an 81 for a rating of Superior. For the 2ND week in a row, they were crowned "Champions" in Class AA. "Way to go Chargers".

Cottrell proved to the crowd that he has the "Best Looks" one week after taking the top prize of being the "Ugliest" guy on the field. We have a very versatile leader. Congratulations Cottrell!! You are the BEST, regardless of your looks!

We all have one more opportunity to see the 2007-2008 Marching Charger Band perform this years program. This will be next Saturday @ North Davidson High School. I encourage you to make plans to be there.

Senior Class. I beg you to soak up this weeks events. After four hard and very rewarding years, your high school marching band career is coming to a close. We want you to know you have made us PROUD. Thank you for all you have given to your school and community.

To all of you. My desire is for you to enjoy the memories on this blog for years to come.
